Interested in chartering a private jet to Madrid, Spain? Although Madrid currently only has a handful of nearby airports, they are sufficient to facilitate the needs of all private jet passengers:

  • Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD): Located to the northeast of Madrid, and only 5.6 miles away from the Madrid’s financial district, Madrid-Barajas Airport is the first airport in Spain that provides passenger flight services and goods transportation. The airport was completed in the late 1920s, and was first opened to national and international flights on 22 April 1931. The airport provides two main areas for hangars as well as has four terminals. Today, Madrid-Barajas Airport is the busiest and largest airport in Spain.
  • Madrid-Cuatro Vientos Airport (LECU): Located five miles away from downtown Madrid, Cuatro Vientos Airport is the oldest Spanish airport that still exists. It was originally used as an air base, but was converted into a civil airport later. Thus, there is a separate military section located on a separate apron of the airport. That section is also used to house turbo-prop airplanes, road traffic surveillance helicopters, and Spanish Police helicopters. The airport focuses mainly on general aviation services. Due to the shorter length of the runways, this airport can only cater to small business jets, piston engine aircraft, helicopters, and medium sized turbo-props.
  • Getafe Air Base (LEGT): Located approximately nine miles south of Madrid, the airport is a military airbase in Getafe. Also known widely as Getafe Airport, it is situated 620m above sea level and has 2 runways. Getafe Air Base is one of the first military air bases built in Spain and considered the cradle of Spanish aviation. Apart from the ongoing military use, the base is also opened to civil use.
  • Madrid-Torrejón Airport (TOJ): Located 15 miles northeast of Madrid and five miles west of Alcalá de Henares, Madrid-Torrejón Airport’s civil section caters for general or private aviation services but has stopped operations for private jets since 1 February 2013. There is a military part to the airport. It is known as Base de Torrejón, which is the base of multiple logistics, combat and electronic warfare units. In fact, there is a 12 Combat Wing that houses F-18 planes and the official aircraft owned by the King of Spain and President of the Government of Spain.
  • Fuentemilanos Airport (LEFM): Situated in the city of Segovia, this is a small airport that can facilitate the needs of private jets. It is near the town of Campillo and located 44 miles away from the busy Madrid-Barajas Airport.
  • El Tietar Airport (LETI): Serving mainly the city of El Tietar and the Toledo region, this airport can be accessed by private jets. It has one runway, and is located 53 miles away from Madrid-Cuatro Vientos Airport.
