Popular Destinations in Puerto Vallarta

Looking for activities once your private jet arrives in Puerto Vallarta? Puerto Vallarta is famous for its nightlife, water sports, and beaches. There is no shortage of attractions to keep everyone busy. Some of the most popular are listed below.

El Malecón Boardwalk

El Malecón Boardwalk

El Malecón Boardwalk: Vsiting tourists can find nightclubs, lounges, bars, and contemporary sculptures at this beachside promenade. No visit to Puerto Vallarta is complete without a stroll down this tropical (boardless) boardwalk. El Malecon Boardwalk’s art, traditions and colors are sure to leave lasting impressions.

Café des Artistes: Reservations are highly recommended at Cafe des Artists. It is reportedly the finest restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. Patrons will enjoy the fusion of Mexican and French influences in a romantic ambiance. The modern interior softens into a candlelit garden and the exterior presents a whimsical, castle-like appearance. Puerto Vallarta’s finest food combinations can be found here. The setting is both comfortable and elegant.

Yelapa

Yelapa

Yelapa: Yelapa is the top beach choice in the area. It is the furthest distance from the main beach towns, and home to a small fishing community. Spend just the day here, or stay the night in a handful of cozy accommodations. Those who choose to stay overnight will experience the true seclusion of Yelapa, long after the boats leave for the day. Boat taxis are available for transport back and forth between this beach and Puerto Vallarta.

Old Town aka the South Side: Old Town, also known as the South Side, is Viejo Vallarta’s Romantic Zone. Its signature cobblestone-street town center offers bars, restaurants, boutique shops, and Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, a decidedly ornate church. Though the streets are small, Old Town is possibly the busiest section of Puerto Vallarta. This is mainly due its bounty of restaurants, bars, cafés, and shops.  Although it feels more like a Pueblo, this section is newer than Puerto Vallarta’s downtown area.

J & B Salsa Club: Along the main coastal highway, about 3 ½ km north of Vallarta’s downtown section lies the area’s premier Latin dance club. During the week, DJs entertain the crowds, but on Friday and Saturday nights, live bands are featured. On Tuesday through Friday evenings salsa lessons are offered. Tango lessons are available on Monday nights at J& B Salsa Club.

Cuale Archaeological Museum: The permanent exhibition at Cuale Archaeological Museum contains information about the customs and traditions of Mexico’s western region. Additionally, information about hunting and gathering tools, art and ceramics, and relics recovered from tomb excavations in Jalisco. Local and national artists are frequently featured in the museum’s temporary exhibits. Originally opened in 1978, Cuale Archaeological Museum reopened its doors after renovations in 2005. The river that surrounds the island is where this museum gets its name.
