Private jet rentals. They have become a bigger part of the business world since the decline of business travel during the pandemic.

At the end of 2021, the business jet market was worth over $28 billion. By the end of the decade, this market value is expected to increase by $12 billion.

If your traditional business travel methods were affected by the pandemic, perhaps you are considering renting a private jet for your business travel.

However, you may not know everything that goes into jet rentals. So, what do you need to know? These are five things that you should keep in mind.

1. Consider Your Private Jet Options

The first thing that you will want to keep in mind is that you have several different options when it comes to private jets. These options depend on what your particular business needs are.

When it comes to private jet options, they can cater to different sized jets. So, depending on how many people you are trying to fly with could impact what type of jet you want to get.

An example of this is one smaller jet that could be available for you could only seat six passengers. However, if you are opening to renting a larger jet, you may be able to fit up to 18 people on the jet.

This is going to be an important part of your decision when it comes to what private jet you will get and if you can rent one at all for your specific needs.

2. Communicate Your Needs and Preferences

Along with knowing what type of jet you are going to need, you should be aware of what your group is going to need once they are on the jet.

For example, the type of seating that is available on a jet could be important to you. Do you need leather seats? Do you need seats that recline? Do you need a place that you can lay down?

These may be things that are important for your group. Or, they could at least be things that would make your group’s experience a lot better.

Another thing that you should consider is if you want a service staff on your flight. Your group could be one that is low maintenance and is just looking to relax on a flight. Or, your group could be one that is going to have a lot of needs on a small flight such as drinks and snacks, so a service staff could help you there.

Make sure that you communicate these needs to a private jet company and communicate with your business group about what your preferences on this jet are.

3. Maximize Flexibility

When it comes to business travel, you never know when something is going to change. You could be operating in New York and expect to go to a business meeting in Los Angeles. However, something may have gone terribly wrong in a manufacturing plant in China that results in you having to suddenly go to Beijing.

These are situations that you need to be prepared for in the business world. So, what can you do about it.

The answer is to rent from a private jet company that has a sliding departure window. How that works is it keeps your departure date and time flexible for your jet rental. In some cases, this even applies to a sudden change in location.

While these situations can be hard to predict accurately, what you can get an idea of is if your business has a habit of having business travel plans change suddenly. If you find that this has happened in the past, make sure you have some flexibility with this.

4. Consider Regional Airports

If you are someone that relied on commercial aircraft for business travel, you most likely used some of the biggest international airports that areas had to offer. Well, what if you did not have to do that?

With private jets, smaller regional airports become an option for you to land in. A big advantage to these airports is that because they take up a lot less space than a large commercial airport, they can locate themselves closer to major cities.

In the United States alone, there are over 20,000 airports scattered across the country. So, do not feel like you have to be limited to airports like JFK or LAX in your business travel.

5. Keep an Eye on Empty Leg Flights

This last tip can be great for businesses that have a smaller budget for business travel or just have a more flexible travel schedule. Empty leg flights can be a great opportunity to cut your costs on business travel significantly.

The reason for that is that these flights are typically ones that a private jet already has to take. However, they do not have the passengers booked on that route.

These flights can be jets going to pick up another passenger at a destination or returning home from dropping a jet off at a certain destination.

The idea here is that if the charter company does not fill that flight, then they are losing money on that leg of the route. Ideally, these companies would rather get something for that leg if they are already using the jet, so they may be willing to offer it to you at a big discount if you fill it.

Book Private Jet Rentals

These are five of the biggest tips that you can use when it comes to private jet rentals.

Look for empty legs if you are trying to cut costs. Have clear communication and look over your private jet options to meet your needs. In return, you can get convenience and flexibility going this route.
