Popular Destinations in St. George’s

Looking for activities once your private jet arrives in St. George’s? St. George’s offers a decent variety of interesting tourist attractions. Some of the most popular ones include:

Unfinished Church

Unfinished Church

Unfinished Church: The most historic place in the village of St. George’s is the Unfinished church. It’s calm and tranquil surroundings, and incredible Gothic architecture make this a one of a kind destination. Settlers started to build the church in 1870, but insufficient funding, in-fighting, and a devastating storm lead to its abandonment. Although it is still unfinished, the remaining structure has been fortified and is open to visitors.

Crystal & Fantasy Caves: The caves were accidentally discovered in 1907 by two boys playing cricket (or so the story says). Crystal formations cover the caves and surround an underground lake. Guided tours lead visitors across bridges and into the deep darkness to experience the breathtaking beauty of the crystals.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo: Government owned and operated, The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo is one of the world’s oldest aquariums and home to more than 200 species of fish and invertebrates, along with 300 birds, mammals, and reptiles. The facility offers a variety of activities such as animal story time, arts & crafts, and animal feedings. Knowledgeable staff lead guided snorkeling expeditions.

The Bermuda Maritime Museum: The Bermuda Maritime Museum showcases the island’s history with exhibits on tourism, immigration, and slavery, as well as Bermuda’s naval heritage. A small building located on the grounds of the Keep Fortress, it typically takes under two hours to see the entire site.

Royal Navy Dockyard

Royal Navy Dockyard

Royal Navy Dockyard: The Royal Navy Dockyard offers a perfect way to take a break from the sand and sea. Once the base of the Royal Navy, it is now a tourist-focused marina and cruise ship dock filled with art galleries, restaurants, pubs, and local artisan craft shops. The Dockyard is also a great place to find last-minute souvenirs.

Horseshoe Bay: It is because of its stunning views that this is the most photographed beach in Bermuda. From September to May the water is freezing, so swimming is not recommended after Labor Day. Still, even in the winter months, Horseshoe Bay is a perfect place for romantic walks along the blush-colored sand. It is an annual tradition to fly handmade Bermudian kites on Good Friday here.

Tobacco Bay: Just a short distance from the cruise ship dock is one of the few public beaches with a liquor license. Besides having cocktails, vacationers can rent snorkeling equipment and swim in the clear, blue water, lounge on the soft pink sand, and watch the sunset.

Port Royal Golf Course: This prestigious course is ideal for vacationing PGA greats and celebrities. Designed by famous architect Robert Trent Jones in 1970, the Port Royal Golf Course was recently refurbished and now features a new irrigation system, resewn fairways and tee boxes, and a glorious clubhouse. The grounds are beautifully manicured and kept in perfect condition. With incredible ocean views, the links are extremely challenging and not for the average duffer.
